Shell Kepler Dead at 49
Kepler died Friday, February 1 at Oregon Health & Science University hospital, which did not give the cause of death.
Kepler's busybody character on "General Hospital" was a fan favorite and enjoyed a long run, 1979-2002.
In addition to her run on GENERAL HOSPITAL, she was also in a 1982 Joan Collins film, Homework, and a couple of episodes of the situation comedy THREE'S COMPANY.
On the side, she was a businesswoman, marketing clothing on the former Home Shopping Club. She said in a 1994 Associated Press interview that her "Lacy Afternoon" collection had sales topping $20 million that year alone.

KDKA: VIDEO: Behind the scenes at GUIDING LIGHT with Brenda Waters.
Variety: With the writers strike entering its fourth month today, the WGA has now scheduled a key step that may send the scribes back to work in the next few weeks. The WGA West has announced it will hold a general membership meeting to provide an update on the negotiations at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Shrine Auditorium south of downtown Los Angeles. WGA leaders are expected to announce the details of a proposed contract with the majors at that point -- and the reaction from members at the meeting should give guild toppers a strong indication of whether the deal will pass muster in a ratification vote.
The Sun: Cheated Tanya Branning will shock EASTENDERs fans by burying alive hubby Max. Weeks of scheming will culminate in Tanya seducing Max and then drugging him — before placing him in a coffin and burying it in woods. Bosses of the BBC soap are certain to come under fire for showing the scenes, which will go out at Easter, before the 9pm watershed.
Auburn Citizen: Getting a 17-year-old soap opera star to bite her tongue can't ever be easy. When the topic is the Spears family saga? Forget it. ALL MY CHILDREN starlette Leven Rambin, against the advice of stylist Shane Cisneros, couldn't hold back her opinions on Jamie Lynn Spears' pregnancy _ and the plight of older sister, Britney Spears, of course _ while holding court at the Tracy Reese show Sunday night at New York Fashion Week. "I love Jamie Lynn! I just think it's so awesome that she's having a baby," Rambin said of the 16-year-old pregnant star of Nickelodeon's ZOEY 101. Rambin said she "hung out" back in the day in Texas _ "my friend's mother and Lynn Spears were friends, so we'd go backstage at Britney's concerts and stuff." As for 26-year-old Britney, whose behavior has become erratic since she filed for divorce from Kevin Federline in November 2006? "Britney right now," she said, "well, I kind of just wish I could give her a hug. But Jamie Lynn is so cool."
CBS: Interview with AS THE WORLD TURNS star Wally Kurth. "What's not to like about Cowboy Jack? [Laughs] You know I've been watching it and I think it's a really interesting character trait and totally creepy. I don't think you've ever seen a ventriloquist or dummy on a daytime serial."
Radar: Things are not looking good for fans of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, the show that critics (and us!) love but that no one actually watches. NBC Entertainment head Ben Silverman tells the magazine: "I love it. You love it. Unfortunately, no one watches it. That's the thing with shows. People have to watch them. We're NBC, we have a reputation to uphold. And, man, with this writers' strike ... well, we'll see what we can do. But start watching 30 ROCK."
News of the World: DANCING ON ICE favourite Chris Fountain is brimming with sexual frustration - because his schedule leaves no time for bedroom fun. "I'm working 12-hour days on HOLLYOAKS then doing ice training from 9pm to 11pm. My girlfriend is my skates at the moment."

Former DAYS Writer Tom Casiello Speaks
"I've never seen anyone who can churn out story like Hogan [Sheffer]. It's jaw dropping. I remember when he got hired at "As The World Turns," he wrote a two hundred page long story that took us 18 months to tell - beginning with Carly/Craig's return in Hong Kong and ending with Julia being found out as Barbara's would-be killer. Single-spaced. Almost down to every line of dialogue. When he's allowed to, he writes these wonderful umbrella stories that are so interconnected, and so rewarding for a viewer who watches every day for a few years."
