WGA East Additional daytime writers have signed a statement of solidarity to appear in Variety on behalf of Daytime.
Press-Enterprise: A group of strike captains started an unofficial site, "United Hollywood," which has kept writers most informed of picket plans and has featured videos of striking writers. The site also launched a campaign to mail pencils to the heads of media conglomerates. The idea stemmed from the slogan "Pencils down," to signify that writers were on strike. So far, more than 300,000 pencils have been mailed according to the Web site. "Pencils have become the symbol of our cause: We are putting them down until we get a fair deal," the site states.
