DAYS' Reynolds Pasadena event gets its 15 minutes of fame during Obama speech
Hundreds of Pasadena area residents watching the televised speech of Sen. Barack Obama accepting the Democratic presidential nomination got a thrill when CNN aired footage of them cheering for the Senator on Thursday night. The event at Blair High School, which was organized by the Pasadena-area United Democratic Headquarters, was one of a handful of parties across the nation that were televised on small screens during Obama's speech.

Speaking at the event was longtime DAYS OF OUR LIVES star and South Pasadena resident James Reynolds.

Reynolds also paid tribute to King, recalling viewing his speech as a child and being moved to tears. He praised Obama and denounced George W. Bush's presidency as a time of economic stagnation and stalled social progress.

"In the last eight years we haven't seen the possibilities we once saw," said Reynolds. "We've given up our dreams."

CAROLYN HINSEY: Mama mia! Chloe unmasked on Y&R
Fans of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS are in for a shock today when Chloe runs into Esther, the maid at the Chancellor mansion, and Esther calls her "Kate."

"It's true," says Elizabeth Hendrickson, who plays snooty stylist Chloe. "Chloe is really Kate, Esther's daughter."

Chloe changed her name and has been covering up her parentage the whole time she has been in Genoa City. She is only busted now because she just married Cane, the rich grandson of Esther's boss, Katherine.

"She hasn't seen Esther this whole time, and has never been to the Chancellor mansion," says Hendrickson. "[Cane's mother] Jill was going to throw them an engagement party, but Chloe got out of that by saying, 'Let's elope.'"

Robert S. Woods keeps OLTLall in the family
"I thought I would be gone after three years," Woods admits. I thought that was how long they used you in daytime. Then they said, 'Could you give us a fourth year?' (In 1986), I had problems in California. My mom was very ill, so I went back there for two years."

In the course of his two-year stay in L. A., Woods appeared on DAYS OF OUR LVIES but not nearly with the same impact as his time on ONE LIFE TO LIVE. It made him realize just what a great character Bo was.

"That is when I made the decision to go back and stay until they toss me," he jokes.

AFTERELTON: Best. Gay. Week. Ever.
Dennis Ayers writes: "Okay, so AS THE WORLD TURNS is as silly as ever. (This past week Lucinda agrees to go mushroom hunting? Puhleez!) However, we've been resetting our patented Nuke liplock clock about once a week these days, which I find amazing. Even though the show hasn't allowed Luke & Noah to go "all the way", as it were, it really does seem like they have desensitized their middle American housewife audience to the sight of two men kissing. They've actually made it no big deal, and that in itself is a very big deal. Now if they could just start working on desensitizing their more conservative audience to the sight of two boys in bed post-coitus, Nuke might finally achieve some parity with the heterosexual couples on the show."

Image and wardrobe consultant Stephanie Cumberland on her time on B&B
"I was a house model for Forrester Creations from 1988 to 1989. My name was Fawn! When you saw Fawn appear, you knew you were getting ready for a fashion show. I had a couple lines here and there."

Another book signing for Y&R's Rowell
Aspiring writers and book lovers of all ages can celebrate the power of reading at Tulisoma (Swahili for "we read"), the sixth annual South Dallas book and arts festival.

The African American Museum at Fair Park is the site for Saturday's free events, which include workshops, performances, celebrity readings, book signings and panel discussions. TV star-turned-author Victoria Rowell (THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS) is one of several writers who will be signing books during the day.

Y&R's Tricia Cast's husband returns to his roots
Bat McGrath, a musician with Rochester roots dating back to the late 60s. McGrath performs at Bristol Harbour in South Bristol Friday at 8 p.m.

McGrath had a highly successful run here with partner Don Potter, later as a solo act. People coming of age in the 1970s know Bat and his music.

He often used Rochester references, such as songs "Wegmans," and "Naples."

McGrath now lives in Nashville, writes songs for other artists including Wynonna and Kenny Rogers, and is married to actress Tricia Cast (best known as Nina from her years on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS).

Legal issues continue for Scalia's girlfriend
A nasty divorce is just one of a long list of legal skirmishes for Edra Blixseth. She's battling to keep the Yellowstone Club afloat, and in August settled a two-year-old claim by club investors that she and ex-husband Tim failed to fairly distribute the proceeds from a $375 million business loan to Yellowstone from Zurich-based Credit Suisse Group.

Blixseth declined to discuss any of the legal squabbles in detail. In an e-mail to Bloomberg News, she said she's unfazed by the software controversy, calling it a "distraction." She appears in public now and again with new boyfriend Jack Scalia, 56, a one-time professional baseball player and Jordache jeans model who starred on ALL MY CHILDREN.
