Van Hansis Fans Support Scholarship
Television can entertain, humor, and inspire us. Walnut Hill alumnus Van Hansis ’00 inspires many as Luke Snyder on the CBS drama AS THE WORLD TURNS, a role that has earned him two consecutive Daytime Emmy Award nominations, but, more importantly, the hearts of viewers internationally. Van’s character has stirred great interest because of his same-sex relationship with character Noah Mayer, played by Jake Silbermann. While some view the plotline as controversial, most applaud Van and others on the show for promoting understanding and tolerance.
Currently, the Van Hansis message board www.vanhansis.net has more than 1,600 members. To honor Van, a group of 70 fans from five countries who converse regularly on this message board celebrated his birthday with a gift to Walnut Hill. Their gifts totaled over $7,000 to support the Student Sponsorship Program, allowing a theater student to attend Walnut Hill who might not otherwise have been able to.

As Tina dies on Hollyoaks tonight fans of the show are wondering what actress Leah Hackett will be doing now she's not a McQueen. In an exclusive interview for the official Hollyoaks website Leah has admitted that it was her decision to leave the soap and she is thrilled to have been involved in such an exciting storyline saying, "When I found out what the storyline was and who was directing it I was really excited, especially because it involved all of the McQueens. It was great to be able to say goodbye to everyone because unless it's a big storyline people tend to leave in the back of a taxi whereas this really was like saying goodbye to my family because we did it all on location, and it was great fun and the scripts were great too."
Tina wants to try something new and doesn't want to play a geek in her next job.

New book tells of how Doug Savant was a closeted heterosexual during MELROSE PLACE days

He is in fact heterosexual, married, and has numerous children. But Doug thought it would be insulting to the gay community if he went out of his way to say he was straight, so we kept his embarrassing heterosexuality in the closet for a long time."
