ALL MY CHILDREN is moving to Los Angeles. Sister soap ONE LIFE TO LIVE will now move into AMC's former New York studio, with both soaps getting streamlined production modules and facility improvements. ABC Daytime President Brian Frons just broke the news on the set of AMC to the cast and crew!
Streamlined production module? Where have we heard this before? Quite honestly, I believe all the remaining daytime soaps need to be streamlined and probably cut to 30 minutes each so I don't see this as a bad thing necessarily. As long as a show is on the air, there is always hope for a creative turnaround.
The large casts and hour format remind me of a large corporation that overinflated during an upswing in the economy. What's happening now is the equivalent of what is happening at many companies where downsizing and streamlined models must be implemented.
