There can not be a farewell to GUIDING LIGHT without paying the proper respect the most complex villain in daytime television history, Roger Thorpe, played by the masterful Michael Zaslow. While April 1, 2009, the day GUIDING LIGHT was canceled by CBS, will always carry a negative connotation for fans, April 1 was of great significance to the show in past. Zaslow debuted as Roger Thorpe on April 1, 1971. Nine years later, on April 1, 1980, Roger fell to his "death" from a cliff in in Santo Domingo. Anyone watching that day will never forget it.
