NEWS: Frons in Hot Water, Bruce Weitz, Chris Colfer, SHUGA

Bruce Weitz Returns to GENERAL HOSPITAL as Mobster Anthony Zacchara
"Anthony loves the fact that Claudia is dead and he doesn't care who did it. He got rid of her and he didn't have to do it himself, so he's fine with it. Anthony has nothing against Michael except that he's Sonny's son. If he weren't, he'd probably like the kid. Anthony is only using Michael as leverage against Sonny."

"I have to be honest. I had a talk with [head writer] Bob Guza and nowhere did he mention anything about a mob war. I've been shooting for about three weeks and haven't seen any of that yet. They're very hesitant to let us actors know what's going on. I hear they've had complaints about storylines from certain actors in the past but everybody should get down on their knees and thank God that they have a job. It's such a blessing to get to go to work these days and if you also have fun, which I do, then that's just icing on the cake. The people at GH are terrific. Really nice. I have yet to meet a prune."

Brian Frons in Hot Water?
ABC Daytime honcho Brian Frons is in hot water over the cancellation of ONE LIFE TO LIVE and ALL MY CHILDREN, sources said. After Hoover announced it will yank ads over the soap axing, other advertisers like Hershey's and L'Oreal are getting heat from consumers to pull ads. Insiders are pointing at Frons, with whispers he may be in his final days. And Kelly Ripa and THE VIEW hosts have been told to cease their death-of-the-soaps talk. An ABC rep said Frons "is not leaving the network . . . There has been no directive to the ladies of THE VIEW or Kelly Ripa."

EASTENDERS' Jack 'to have one-night stand'
According to The Sun, the grief-stricken character will turn to Rainie (Tanya Franks) for comfort amid his devastation over wife Ronnie's dramatic baby swap confessions. While Ronnie spends time in jail for her crime, Rainie apparently gives Jack (Scott Maslen) a shoulder to cry on, which soon leads to them spending the night together.

AS SEEN ON: “Soapy Roots”
Dartmouth's Allison Levy writes: "For as large a role as TV plays in many American’s lives, many of us know surprisingly little about the history of the medium. Unaware of the historical value of the soap opera, it is easy to overlook the 'good' of soap operas."

Over the Fence: With ‘Children’ gone, it’s the end of an era
"Someone once told me, 'content is King.' Well, not anymore. Content costs money, so away we go with that theory."

Among Alec Baldwin's favorite 30 ROCK scenes, his Mexican soap actor
"Among the ones I like the most was when I played the Mexican soap opera actor, and when I'm doing scenes opposite myself, when they do that computer-generated thing."
