NEWS: Cancellation Fallout - Hundreds of Jobs Lost, Reactions

AFTRA calls ABC soap cancellations a "devastating loss"
"AFTRA representatives are communicating with affected members in both cities to ensure they are fully informed of their rights and benefits under the AFTRA Network Television Code. Additionally, AFTRA is in contact with ABC representatives to oversee as smooth a transition as possible for these performers."

Jobs will go down drain with cancellation of ABC soaps
Besides the roughly 40 actors employed full time by the two shows, hundreds of other performers, stunt men and women, directors, producers, writers and crew members will be let go. The cancellation of the two soaps is also a blow to production in Los Angeles and New York.

Kelly Ripa: ALL MY CHILDREN Cancellation "Makes Me Sick"
"ALL MY CHILDREN means so much more to me than any place, because [Mark and I] met there, we had our children there, it was a big part of our lives, and I think that to cancel a show that has been on television for so many years, what are you going to replace it with? I mean I just don’t know. I just feel like it’s such a training ground for so many actors."
