Actress, writer and producer Martha Byrne is quickly becoming the queen of indie productions. She's been all over the country in recent months--New York (City and upstate), Los Angeles, and soon D.C...and those are just the places we know about! She earned an Emmy nomination earlier this year as the executive producer of indie soap hit GOTHAM, and will be guest starring in the upcoming seasons of two award-winning web series, PRETTY and ANACOSTIA. In addition, she has multiple new projects in the works. She recently wrapped up her "An Adirondack Affair" annual event, and will be appearing in the "Empire's Got Talent" show on November 7. And now, Bye Bye Sally, a short indie film for which she was the exec producer, is available to watch online. Where does she get the energy?Sally stars Malin Akerman and was written and directed by former AS THE WORLD TURNS star Paul Leyden. It is based on a short story, "Everybody Wins," by Bram Stoker Award winning novelist, Lisa Mannetti. Another ATWT actor, Paolo Seganti, is also in the cast.
SYNOPSIS: Life has been cruel to Sally Grimshaw and she has had enough. It's time to end it all. In a last ditch effort to save herself she calls a suicide hotline and is persuaded to come in and see one of their mental health counselors -- Mr. Vincent.
But Mr. Vincent has no intention of talking her out of killing herself. In fact, he runs a service that matches suicidal clients with potential hits. I mean, if you're going to kill yourself you might as well take out some human scum at the same time. At first she refuses, but life is never going to be kind to Sally and she finally agrees -- she's in.
Sally is faced with the moment of truth when she has to perform the hit. And it is always in such moments that we discover a truth about ourselves. And in such a moment, Sally discovers a reason to live.
