Husband and Husband. And Colleen Zenk Officiated Our Wedding!

I was married in the middle of Times Square on Saturday, August 18. With friends and family sitting on the Red Steps in Duffy Square, Kevin Mulcahy Jr. and I said our "I dos." It was our dream wedding, in our dream location surrounded by more love and enthusiasm than I ever could have imagined. We both always wanted to live in New York so we went all out with a New York City theme. As you might notice from the photo above, three-time Emmy nominee Colleen Zenk, best known to soap opera fans as Barbara Ryan in AS THE WORLD TURNS, officiated our wedding. Colleen became an ordained Universal Life Church minister in order to participate in our special day. It meant the world to us as we've grown to love her dearly as a friend and to count on her advice and wisdom as we navigate our way through a hectic life in New York City.

We added a line to our wedding script familiar to soap opera fans: "If there be anyone present who has reasons why these two should not be married, please speak now or forever hold your peace!"

As Colleen spoke the line, I looked around a crowded Times Square while flashing back to many of Barbara Ryan's weddings and other interrupted soap weddings over the years.  I half expected someone to emerge from the TKTS line to speak up.

I'm not sure what the thousands of tourists who were surrounding us thought but many cheered and took pictures along the way so we assume they whole-heartedly approved.

Below are a few other photos from our special day.

With our minister, also known as Ms. Colleen Zenk.

Marlo is our 21-month-old African Grey parrot. She served as flower girl.

Colleen's gorgeous and talented daughter, Kelsey, was on hand to support her mom and us.

Our friend Jillian Clare (MISS BEHAVE, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) attended as well. Her new movie, The Kitchen, premiered on Tuesday!

Our best men gave speeches at the reception, held on the second floor of Vlada Lounge. They were all beautiful and touching in different ways. Our We Love Soaps partner Damon L. Jacobs (the best friend a person could have in life), made a very soapy toast which had the crowd in stitches.  Read Damon's Dos and Don'ts of Marriage.

The above photos were from Sue Coflin/Max Photos. Below is an amazing shot from Gustavo Monroy who captured the moment we were declared "husband and husband" perfectly.   Our family and friends are on the Red Steps offering their loud support (and blowing bubbles).

Thanks to our readers for all the kind emails and messages on Facebook and Twitter. It was a dream come true.
