Kassie DePaiva is joining the cast of DAYS OF OUR LIVES.DePaiva wrote in a message on her official website on January 8th: "Good things are ahead this year and I hope to have more to report very soon."
It was around this time DePaiva followed the official DAYS Twitter account, as well as DAYS actors Shawn Christian (Daniel) and Charles Chaughnessy (Shane). That led fans to speculate that DAYS might be one of the "good things" she was talking about.
Today, TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan tweeted the following: "DONE DEAL? I'm hearing it's OFFICIAL! @KassieDePaiva @nbcdays @DaysofourLives #DOOL #Days #daysofourlives"
DePaiva is best known for her two decade run on ONE LIFE TO LIVE in the role of Blair Cramer, a part she reprised both on GENERAL HOSPITAL and Prospect Park's new ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Prior to OLTL, she played Chelsea Reardon on GUIDING LIGHT.
NBC announced a two-renewal for DAYS OF OUR LIVES on Wednesday, the day after Alison Sweeney announced she was leaving the soap after 21 years. Sweeney made her DAYS debut 21 years ago today.
UPDATE:
We can confirm that DePaiva has been cast as Eve Donovan on DAYS and will first air this summer. The role was last played by Charlotte Ross in 1991.
Said DAYS in a statement: "The two-time Emmy-nominated starlet brings a fresh dynamic to Salem society as we explore the many facets of the Donovan family like never before."
Delighted about the latest addition to the cast, Co-Executive Producer, Greg Meng explained, “We are excited to welcome Kassie to the Days family. Stay tuned to find out how the return of Eve Donovan shakes things up in Salem!” DePaiva’s first episodes are expected to air this summer on NBC.
In December, Ross was in talks about coming back and tweeted, "Awesome [meeting] w/ [executive producer] Greg Meng & [head writer] Christopher Whitesell at #NBC today talking about #DaysofourLives."
Today, Ross tweeted her congratulations to DePaiva upon hearing the news: "I had to pass on reprising my FAVE role,Eve Donovan,as I'm currently filming 3 projects(NASHVILLE-abc now)& I know Kassie will be wonderful!"
