Freddie Smith Returning to 'Days of our Lives' as Sonny Kiriakis in July

Emmy winning actor Freddie Smith ended a four-year run as Sonny Kiriakis on NBC soap opera Days of our Lives last August, when his character left Salem and husband Will Horton (Guy Wilson) behind. Smith briefly came back in October following Will's murder, and now he's returning again. Soap Opera Digest recently confirmed the ongoing rumor that Smith was back, and revealed his return is slated to begin in July.

"I am beyond excited to be returning home to Salem," Smith told the magazine. "Sonny is back, and it's going to be amazing!"

The length of Smith's return or his upcoming storyline have not yet been confirmed. Stay tuned!
