It was a busy week in Fairmont Crest (and Las Vegas) with an unexpected wedding, Doug's death and lots of Derek and Ashley. I enjoyed most of it. Below are my 3 favorite things that happened on Beyond the Gates this week.
The Vegas Wedding
Dani (Karla Mosley) and Andre's (Sean Freeman) drunken Vegas wedding was the highlight of the week. The ceremony of my current favorite soap couple being officiated by an Anita Williams impersonator (played by Tamara Tunie) was a stroke of genius. They even offered to have a Vernon Dupree look-alike walk Dani down the aisle. Hilarious! Watch part of the Vegas fun in the clip below.
Leslie Helping Peaches
Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) has certainly enjoyed flaunting her newfound fortune in the Dupree's faces several times but on Friday she did something selfless for Peaches (Arle Michel) that made more of an impact on me. She told Peaches that she had rented an apartment for her, and gave her some money to make her life easier. She also apologized for the way she has treated Peaches over the years. It was a much-needed moment of kindness from Leslie.
Vanessa's Mixed Emotions Over Doug
Actress Lauren Buglioli did terrific work this week as Vanessa struggled with conflicted emotions. She was frustrated by Doug's (Jason Graham) continued reckless behavior but also felt empathy knowing how much her relationship with Joey (Jon Lindstrom) hurts him. She was crushed to learn Doug had reached out to Nicole to help with his gambling addiction.
