Days of our Lives actor Al Calderon is guest-starring in tonight's episode of Brilliant Minds, which airs Mondays at 10pm on NBC. Inspired by world-famous author and neurologist Oliver Sacks, season two continues to follow Dr. Wolf (Zachary Quinto) and his team at Bronx General as they delve into medical mysteries of the mind.

Calderon, who stars as Javi Hernandez on Days of our Lives, appears in the episode titled "Once Upon a Time in America". When two patients arrive in critical condition, Dr. Wolf and Dr. Nichols must do whatever it takes to keep them alive. Calderon will play Nurse Nico Silva, who runs the hospital and looks good doing it. With charisma to spare, he's widely regarded as the Mayor of Bronx General. His warm, funny, and outgoing charm may or may not be the reason why he knows everything about everyone at work.

Calderon is a bilingual, multi-talented actor, singer, and dancer whose work spans Broadway ("13: A New Musical"), television (Days of our Lives, Step Up: Highwater), and a growing slate of pop singles.

Of Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Caucasian descent, Calderon is coming off a contract role on Days of our Lives, and was a former series regular in both YouTube Red/Starz’s dance series Step Up: Highwater & Snapchat’s Dead Girl’s Detective Agency.

He made his New York stage debut in 2007 in Radio City’s Christmas Spectacular. A year later, he landed the role of Eddie in the original Broadway cast of "13: A New Musical". In 2013, he gained national exposure as a Top 10 male finalist on Fox’s The X Factor.

His screen credits include Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie, Max’s Minx, AMC’s The Walking Dead: World Beyond, OWN’s The Haves and the Have Nots, and the Fox pilot Amy’s Brother opposite Melissa McCarthy. On the feature side, he appeared in Detachment, Stealing Cars, and the musical drama Hello Again opposite Audra McDonald and Martha Plimpton.

As a recording artist, Al has released 12 singles, including “Lo100to” and “Come Get It” earlier this year. He also co-wrote Katy Perry’s “Electric” for Pokémon’s 25th anniversary, which was featured in Netflix’s He’s All That.

A native of New York City, Al now resides in Los Angeles.
