Producer/Writer/Director/Showrunner Jude Gerard Prest's LifeLike Productions, Inc. has signed a deal with Red Sky Entertainment for the development of their property "Kindred Spirits: A Titanic Tale," a historical fantasy novel by award-winning journalist Nelson Aspen.
In addition to three decades in front of the camera for international morning television, Aspen is no stranger to the saga of the ill-fated Ship of Dreams; he is a podcast host ("Titanic Talk") and sought after speaker at Titanic exhibitions, screenings and special events around the world. Prest's own aquatic pedigree includes having served as an Executive Producer on Netflix's prestigious hit documentary feature "Titan: The Ocean Gate Disaster" and as a showrunner and director on the Emmy winning series "Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin." Having received numerous screenwriting awards, Prest says he was drawn to the book by its "sweeping historical and modern day time travel element and its richly developed, character driven, dramatic story arc."
"Kindred Spirits: A Titanic Tale" is based on the author's own personal history with a heretofore obscure 1st Class passenger and has received accolades and a fan following as the first gay Titanic love story. Red Sky Entertainment has previously published several of Aspen's works including the popular "Dancing Between the Raindrops" trilogy.
As Aspen explained, "Titanic is the third most recognized brand in the world, right behind God and Coca-Cola! Its enduring appeal isn't just historical, it remains a pop-culture phenomenon and this is my own contribution to her legacy."
Prest, who is writing the screenplay adapted from the novel, agrees that "Kindred Spirits: A Titanic Tale" is "more about an intriguing metaphysical connection across timelines than it is about massive special effects and icebergs. Nelson and I both grew up on the kind of human storytelling that we saw in the 1970s era of films."
