General Hospital will pay tribute to daytime icon Anthony Geary in a special episode airing on Friday, February 20. The Emmy-winning actor, who died December 14, 2025 at 78, famously portrayed Luke Spencer for nearly four decades. Though Luke was killed off in 2022, his presence still looms large in Port Charles.
In a preview clip [psted by People, Laura (Genie Francis) sits in a church pew, tearfully speaking to her late husband’s spirit. “You never left me,” she says, describing how she still hears his voice urging her forward when life feels unbearable.
The episode centers on Lulu (Alexa Havins Bruening), who was in a coma when her father died and never processed her grief. After finding a photograph, she and Tracy (Jane Elliott) organize a tribute that brings together Laura, Sonny (Maurice Benard), Carly (Laura Wright) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). Through memories, humor and reflection, the group honors Luke’s complicated, outsized impact on their lives.
Geary debuted as Luke in 1978 and remained a central figure until retiring in 2015, with a brief return in 2017. Luke and Laura became daytime’s most iconic supercouple, and their 1981 wedding drew 30 million viewers — still the most-watched episode in soap history.
Following Geary’s death, Francis called him a “powerhouse” and said, “No star burned brighter than Tony Geary… I was so lucky to be his partner.”
The tribute episode celebrates Luke Spencer as he was remembered: flawed, charismatic and unforgettable.
