On March 29, 1970, there were 16 soap operas airing across three networks. By the next day, that number had grown—dramatically.
On March 30, ABC premiered Best of Everything and A World Apart, while NBC debuted Another World: Somerset, a spin-off of its hit Another World. It was an extraordinary moment: three new daytime dramas launching at once, part of a rapid expansion that saw six new soaps debut in just seven months, including Where the Heart Is, Bright Promise, and All My Children.
