Karlton T. Clay's 'The Loved and the Heartless' Continues Award-Winning Run as Creator Nears 500-Episode Milestone

Independent soap opera pioneer Karlton T. Clay continues to expand his ever-growing slate of original dramas with The Loved and the Heartless, his 17th web series and one of his most acclaimed productions to date.

Created, written, produced, directed, and showrun by Clay, The Loved and the Heartless is a fast-paced micro-drama that proves compelling soap storytelling doesn't require hour-long episodes. Each installment runs less than 10 minutes while delivering the romance, betrayal, and cliffhangers fans expect from the genre.

The series follows a group of characters whose lives are intertwined by love, heartbreak, and unexpected twists. Ashley (Caranita "Bird" Harrelson) and Raheem (Mar'Ques Woolford) appear to have found a comfortable rhythm in their casual relationship until Ashley's former flame, played by Carlos Hall, unexpectedly returns, threatening to upend everything. The ensemble cast also includes Shantelle Wheeler, Ash Williams, Jackie Harrington III, Shatareia Stokes, and Clay himself.

Rather than traditional seasons, The Loved and the Heartless is divided into "chapters." Three chapters, totaling 40 episodes, are currently available on YouTube, with production already underway on Chapter 4. Clay is also developing a crossover spin-off, The Royal and the Righteous.

The series has earned widespread recognition on the festival circuit. Among its honors are Best Drama at the 2025 NYC Web Fest, Best Web Series at the 2026 Virginia Black Film Festival, and Best Screenplay at the 2026 LA Web Fest. The production has also received awards for Best Ensemble, Best Director, and Best Poster at the 2025 British Web Awards, while Mar'Ques Woolford earned Best Actor honors at the 2025 Hollywood Series Awards.

Festival selections have included the 2025 NYC Web Fest, the 2026 Virginia Black Film Festival, and the 2026 LA Web Fest, underscoring the series' growing reputation within the independent television community.

Clay produces the series through Victory Productions, the company he founded in 2003 following his battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Over the past two decades, he has become one of the most prolific creators in the web soap genre, developing 17 original series.

With the upcoming release of The Loved and the Heartless Chapter 4, Clay will reach an extraordinary career milestone: writing, producing, and directing 500 episodes across his body of work. That total includes his animated project, KARLTON'S WORLD: The Animated Series, which was recently selected for the 2026 BronzeLens Film Festival in Atlanta.
