The creative team behind Lifetime's planned All My Children reunion movies is coming into focus.
According to an exclusive report from Daytime Confidential, veteran soap opera writers Ron Carlivati and Jamey Giddens have been tapped to write the first of two planned All My Children television movies. Primetime writer Leo Richardson has written the second installment.
The movies are being developed by former All My Children stars Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos through their Milojo production company in partnership with the estate of the late Agnes Nixon and veteran producer Andrew Stearn.
Daytime Confidential reports that the films will revisit Pine Valley and center on legendary characters Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and Dr. Maria Santos Gray (Eva LaRue), picking up years after ABC canceled the iconic daytime drama in 2011. Fans can also expect an update on the popular Santos family.
Carlivati is one of daytime television's most accomplished writers, having served as head writer of One Life to Live, General Hospital, and Days of our Lives. Giddens was recently named co-head writer of The Young and the Restless after previously writing for Days of our Lives and Beyond the Gates.
The announcement marks another major step forward for the long-awaited All My Children revival, which has generated significant excitement among fans since Ripa and Consuelos revealed they were working to bring Pine Valley back to television.
