Watch 'The Young and the Restless' Cast Read The Show's First Script at Paley Center Event

As part of the CBS Daytime "#1 for 30 Years" celebration, The Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles is currently running an interactive exhibit of one-of-a kind memorabilia and original set pieces from the network's daytime series. The exhibit honors the five current shows, as well as beloved classic soap operas As the World Turns and Guiding Light. Special programming has also been added to help pay homage to the CBS lineup. On November 9, the current cast of The Young and the Restless gathered for a reading of the show's very first script, which was broadcast on March 23, 1987. Like sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful, Y&R was co-created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell.

Y&R star Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) played patriarch Stuart Brooks (originally Robert Colbert), owner of the Genoa City Chronicle and father to four daughters. Sharon Case (Sharon Newman) read the role of Leslie Brooks (Janice Lynde), while Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman) took on the part of Chris Brooks (Trish Stewart). Greg Rikaart played Snapper Foster (William Gray Espy), a med student and the oldest of the working class Foster siblings. Lauralee Bell (Christine Blair Williams), daughter of the show's creators, read the role of waitress Sally McGuire (Lee Crawford). Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) played the mysterious Brad Eliot (Tom Hallick). Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) read the roles of the truck driver who picked Brad up, and a police officer. Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) played Barbara Anderson (Deidre Hall). Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin) played Pierre Roulland (Robert Clary). Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) narrated, reading the stage directors for the episode, which was taped on March 12, 1973, and aired 11 days later.

'ET' Sends Cameron Mathison to Interview Soap Opera Stars at the Soap Opera Digest 40th Anniversary Party (Video)

"I had the most preposterous, early '90s hair," Alison Sweeney told
ET's Cameron Mathison.
Earlier this week, ET reporter Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan Lavery, All My Children) chatted with daytime stars at Soap Opera Digest's 40th anniversary celebration at the Argyle Hollywood on Wednesday. A few of the actors reminisced about their first time being featured on the cover of the magazine.

"My first cover was Marissa Tomei and I," said Christian Le Blanc (Michael Baldwin, The Young and the Restless; ex-Kirk McColl, As the World Turns). "Marissa Tomei was my girlfriend on As the World Turns. Julianne Moore was my second girlfriend!"

Mathison was able to catch up with some of his on-screen hookups at the party.

"We were married, like, twice," Melissa Claire Egan told Mathison, about Ryan and her All My Children character, Annie Lavery.

"I think we were married twice," Rebecca Budig, who played Greenlee Smythe on AMC, said.

"Engaged 18 times," Mathison quipped.

Watch the ET segment below, which also includes Eva LaRue (Maria Santos, All My Children), Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos, General Hospital), Finola Hughes (Anna Devane, General Hospital) and Alison Sweeney (ex-Sami Brady, Days of our Lives).

'The Young and the Restless' Thursday Preview: Everybody Deserves Representation

Michael offers to represent Adam.
On Wednesday's (October 7) episode of The Young and the Restless, Jill (Jess Walton) returned from a business trip, Devon (Bryton James) received a ransom note for Hilary (Mishael Morgan), and Sage (Kelly Sullivan) gave birth to a baby boy. After helping get Sage to the hospital, Adam (Justin Hartley) was arrested.

[SPOILER ALERT]

On Thursday's Y&R, Sage wakes up the next morning, and Nick (Joshua Morrow) tells her their son is beautiful. Later, Sage suggests a very familiar name for their baby boy.

At the police station, Jack (Peter Bergman) visits Adam, who tells him that Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) isn't speaking to him.

"I managed to hurt every single person that ever gave a damn about me," Adam tells Jack.

When Michael (Christian LeBlanc) reads that Adam is planning on representing himself, Lauren (Tracey Bregman) is unhappy that he's considering representing the man who killed Delia.

NEWS: Kassie DePaiva, Kristian Alfonso, Brytni Sarpy, Max Page, Christian LeBlanc, Stephen Nichols

Kassie DePaiva
Kassie DePaiva will sing on the Days of our Lives Christmas episode
"I"m singing on Days, on the Christmas episode you'll see me sing, which is nice," reveals DePaiva, who plays Eve.

She also talked lovingly about her former soap, One Life to Live, and Blair's true love, Todd: "Who wouldn't want to have a bitchfest with Blair and Todd?"

Galen Gering, Kristian Alfonso and Stephen Nichols promote Days of our Lives on Access Hollywood
"We're not just shooting in the studio anymore, we're going on location," Alfonso (Hope) says. "Like the old days," adds Nichols (Patch).

Former The Young and the Restless actor Max Page receives new heart valve: 'He wants to experience life to the fullest'
One day after the new valve called a Melody device was implanted at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Page (who played Reed on Y&R) was up and about, practicing golf swings in his hospital room before being released.

Christian LeBlanc visiting Canada again, talks Michael's cancer story on The Young and the Restless
"It's interesting to actually go and play a character who's actually very knocked down by it and very overwhelmed in many ways," said Le Blanc.

"To pick Michael, it made complete sense because they picked prostate cancer for a man who is all about his prowess as a man, what he considers to be a man.... All of us think we have some modicum of control over our lives, and this is something that really humbles you."

“Max was a little sore, but he was able to walk, jump and move for Dr. Ing the morning after surgery,” his mother, Jennifer, said in a statement released by CHLA.

General Hospital actress Brytni Sarpy would love to be spokesperson for younger women and health
"I’d love be a spokesperson, promoting eating correctly—especially for girls who don’t have a prior understanding of things like nutrition," says Sarpy, who plays Valerie on GH. "It should be taught in all of our homes and schools, but I feel like it falls short. Reaching those underprivileged schools and people who aren’t getting the right education is important."

Nielsen is now tracking ratings for nearly 1,000 streaming shows
Nielsen started measuring viewership data on streaming sites last winter as a means of giving major studios like Twentieth Century Fox and NBCUniversal a clearer sense of how streaming affects their revenue. Studios still make more money from traditional, ad-supported television, but subscription-based streaming has been eating into TV viewership for some time now. Charging Netflix and Amazon for popular shows can help stem any losses from audiences changing their viewing habits.

The data Nielsen is tracking is still fairly limited, though, since it doesn't include viewership from mobile devices or overseas subscribers. Nielsen has plans to include those metrics, but Netflix uses those limits to dismiss the effort out of hand. Meanwhile, the streaming giant also already provides certain well-paying studios with information on how often a show is streamed on a monthly basis. However, Netflix has reason to be a little nervous. If Nielsen data shows that its original programming doesn't have the same draw as licensed shows, investors may be somewhat less inclined to support the company's future projects.

Former University of Nebraska football player Marc Munford remembers teammates watching General Hospital in the locker room
"Some guys in there watched soap operas every day — General Hospital was a big one, but I couldn’t stand that stuff. We’d watch Animal House and Caddyshack."
