'Pretty Broken' Interviews: Jillian Clare & Tyler Christopher Share Insights on Their New Indie Film

The new indie film Pretty Broken tells the story of Lindsey Lou (Indie Series Award winner Jillian Clare), an unemployed, college drop-out on the verge of divorce who finds herself couch surfing at her childhood home. while her family grieves the death of her father. As the family tries to put the past behind them, Lindsey fights to keep his memory alive before her Southern belle mother, Caroline (Stacy Edwards), replaces him with a younger man, Jerry Carlyle (Daytime Emmy winner Tyler Christopher).

The movie opens today at Laemmle NoHo 7 in North Hollywood, where Clare and a special guest or two will present for a Q&A immediately following the 7:20 p.m. showing every day through March 7. You can also catch it on AmazoniTunes, DirecTV, Dish Network and multiple other VOD platforms starting today.  The film is distributed by Freestyle Digital Media.

We Love Soaps caught up with Clare and Christopher to find out more about their roles in the film.

Soap Opera Trivia: Clare played Abigail Deveraux on Days of our Lives as a kid in 2003-2004. Christopher joined Days in 2017 playing Stefan DiMera. Clare's former character, all grown up and played by Marci Miller, married Stefan in 2018.

WE LOVE SOAPS: You are earning rave reviews for your performance portrayal of Lindsey Lou. What was it about this character that drew you to the role?
JILLIAN CLARE: Lindsey Lou is a multi-layered character that I felt I hadn't seen portrayed in film before. Most films with young 20-something women have to do with college, or something extremely awful, and of course, rom-coms. This film is a slice of life. It follows a lost girl going through something that everyone goes through in their own life and that's why I fell in love with it. No craziness, no big explosions. Just reality.

Brandon Barash Will Play Stefan on 'Days of our Lives' While Tyler Christopher Takes Leave of Absence

Tyler Christopher is taking a leave of absence from NBC soap opera Days of our Lives. While the Emmy-winning actor is out, his former General Hospital co-star Brandon Barash will fill in as Stefan DiMera, according to Daytime Confidential.

There is no word on how long Christopher will be gone from the set.

In the meantime, Barash — who played Johnny Zacharra on the ABC daytime dramafrom 2007 to 2016, overlapping with Christopher's 1996-2016 tenure on the show — temporarily will take the role of Days' Stefan.
Christopher debuted as Stefan O. DiMera, the previously unknown son of the show's longtime villain Stefano DiMera and Vivian Alamain, in late 2017. He won an Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Daytime Emmy in 2016 for his work on GH.

Since leaving General Hospital, Barash's TV credits have included Major Crimes, Timeless, Scorpion, Lucifer and The Last Ship.

Daytime Emmy Award winning actor Tyler Christopher is joining the cast of NBC soap opera Days of our Lives.

"After only a week on Days of our Lives, everyone has gone above and beyond in making me feel as if I've been a long-time part of their iconic family," Christopher told Soap Opera Digest. Christopher is best known for playing the role of Nikolas Cassadine on ABC's General Hospital (1996-1999, 2003-2011, 2013-2016). More recently, he starred in the Lifetime thriller The Other Mother, and can soon be seen in the indie film Pretty Broken.

What role will Christopher play on Days? That hasn't been revealed yet, but this will not be his first appearance on the show. In 2001, he played Signore Christofero during an all-star stunt casting of daytime vets who attended Greta's coronation.

Tyler Christopher on Leaving 'General Hospital': "I Just Couldn't Make It Work"

Tyler Christopher
The mystery is solved. Earlier this year, after General Hospital's Nikolas Cassadine plunged over a balcony at his family home on Spoon Island, fans waited to have the fall explained or see Nikolas reappear. Actor Tyler Christopher never did, and now he’s dishing on why not.

As with so much that goes on in daytime these days Christopher left the show for reasons purely economical, he told ABC Soaps In Depth in its latest issue. Nick Stabile briefly replaced Christopher and now Nikolas is presumed dead for good.

"We couldn’t come to a deal that made sense for me and my family. As we all know, the economics of daytime have changed. As a result of that, I just couldn’t make it work," the actor said.

If it’s any consolation to his legion of fans—whom he calls “GH Nation”— Christopher too strongly wishes things could have turned out different. He said playing Nikolas both gave him a career and brought into his life relationships he cherishes. Christopher, for his part, made an indelible mark on the hearts of fans. We could see the brooding prince in his soulful eyes and the fragile little boy in his innocent smile.

'General Hospital' Star Emme Rylan Dishes Possible Cassadine Baby and More!

Emme Rylan
Fan fave Emme Rylan talked about her portrayal of Lulu on General Hospital and all the wacky things that implies! Some of what she dished on included hubbies, babies, a mysterious message from Helena Cassadine, and more.

“There was something that happened during those island scenes. Everyone was really on and really living that imaginary circumstance, and it was fun. I loved it,” Rylan (Lulu Spencer) told On Air On Soaps of her recent scenes with the motley Port Charles crew trapped on Cassadine Island.

Rylan couldn’t keep a straight face as she repeated the escape route off Cassadine Island over and over as Lulu had to remember it. Dominic Zamprogna’s (Dante Falconeri) teasing her didn’t help either.

“The cast was laughing the entire time. But it was actually a fun week of shooting for many reasons,” Rylan said.

Tyler Christopher Clears Up Possible September Return Date to 'General Hospital'

Tyler Christopher
Earlier this year, Emmy winner Tyler Christopher took a leave of absence “for personal reasons” from the role of Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital. He cited “personal reasons,” for his exit, making many GH fans wonder if the he and the show had reached an impasse in contract negotiations.

Fans have been eager for the actor’s return during his several-week absence, which took place smack dab in the middle of meaty storyline involving Nikolas. The Cassadine prince faked his own death only to be discovered very much alive by Ava Jerome.

“Emmy winner Tyler Christphoner (Nikolas Cassadine) announced that he will be returning to General Hospital later this year. The actor made the announcement during an event at this year's General Hospital Fan Club Weekend,” reported Soap Central on Friday. The Internet erupted with overjoyed fans declaring Christopher would be back at GH in a few weeks.

Christopher then Tweeted a clarification the same day. “Slow down every1 I said I THINK Sept. will b my return 2 ‪#GH‬. Nothing official yet. Thanks for all the love 2day though. ‪#Muchappreciated.

In Christopher’s absence, soap alum Nick Stabile took over the role of Nikolas. Fans generally agreed that he did a laudable job as Nikolas. When Valentin shot Nikolas and the prince plunged over a balcony on Cassadine Island, fans saw the last of Stabile. In his short time as Nikolas, Stabile had gained an avid following, and many hoped the show would find some way to keep both Christopher and Stabile in Port Charles.

Check back with We Love Soaps for more information on Christopher’s return as it becomes available.
