Yvonne Zima is joining the cast of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as Daisy. The 20-something actress is best known as Rachel Greene, daughter of Dr. Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards) on the hit series ER. Her first Y&R airdate is Oct. 30.

Fox Cancels Its Reality Channel
The Fox Reality cable channel got a cancellation notice late Wednesday from its parent company, Fox Networks Group. The channel is scheduled to cease original programming on March 31, though it may continue to run programs after that, all from its library. Fox Networks Group is owned by News Corporation.

Showtime Orders Pilot Starring William H. Macy Based on Long-Running British Series
Showtime has greenlighted a pilot by Emmy-winner John Wells, an American version of the long-running British drama SHAMELESS, that will headline actor William H. Macy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

John Wells Productions has been shopping this project, the story of a boy growing up in a working-class family with eight children, for five years. The U.S. version will be set in Chicago during the current economic hard times.

Interracial Couple Denied Marriage License By Louisiana Justice Of The Peace
A Louisiana justice of the peace said he refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple out of concern for any children the couple might have. Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish, says it is his experience that most interracial marriages do not last long.

"I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way," Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. "I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else."
