We Love Soaps can exclusively report that As the World Turns, the iconic television soap opera that debuted on April 2, 1956, has been canceled by CBS after 53 years.The soap has improved creatively in recent months and fans were hopeful that the show would be renewed for another year. Unfortunately CBS had other plans.
CBS canceled the long-running Guiding Light earlier this year and the show aired its final episode on September 18.
Production for ATWT will end in June, and the show will go off the air in September.
