Not being the first actor to play a role doesn't necessarily mean you won't be a huge success (Don Hastings, Erika Slezak, Melody Thomas Scott, Robin Strasser and Martha Byrne instantly come to mind). It's much harder though when the audience has clearly identified with the previous actor in the role that was played for several years. Shemar Moore was Malcolm Winters to a lot of people. This week, Malcolm returned to THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS played by Darius McCrary. It was a jarring to say to this. It will take some time to find out if fans will accept him in the role.
