Although Lisa Miller was not daytime television's first villainess (for example, LOVE OF LIFE's Meg having beat her to the screen a good decade earlier), there was something magical in Eileen Fulton's portrayal of this southern vixen which riveted viewers and kept AS THE WORLD TURNS at the top of the ratings throughout the 1960s and most of the 1970s. She even had her own primetime spinoff, OUR PRIVATE WORLD.
In her heyday, she had more husbands and lovers than anyone can ever be expected to keep track of, and as her love life petered out, she managed to transform herself into a successful business woman, owning, at various times, Fashions, the yacht club, a newspaper, the Lakeview Hotel, a restaurant, and various nightclubs.
Sadly, we haven't seen much of Lisa in the last several years, and it does not appear that she will find one last night in shining armor before the series end. I'd always hoped she would find her way back to Grant Colman somehow.
