The classic clip below features the opening and closing credit sequence of THE EDGE OF NIGHT on December 2, 1975, along with the first act in which Serena Faraday shoots husband Mark on the courthouse steps. This was the second episode of EDGE to air on ABC after moving from CBS and the second remix of Paul Taubman's theme music. The music was so unpopular, EDGE's producer quickly dropped it and reinstated the previous theme.

I'm impressed by the cinematography that gave this scene a very cinematic style not typical of soaps.
ReplyDeleteAs for the closing music, it certainly did not have the dark, mysterious tone that the more familiar Edge theme some has.
Love The Edge of Night - Thanks for posting this Roger! Happy Easter
ReplyDeleteAs it stands on its own, the music is not bad. However, it definitely doesn't fit the dark, foreboding, sinister tone Edge had through its run. No wonder Erwin Nicholson dropped it fairly fast.
ReplyDeleteIt's clear this poster has the premiere episode on ABC and the December 2 show in his collection. Wonder what else he has?
