April was a good month on our favorite daytime dramas with the new kid on the block, Beyond the Gates, leading the pack as must-watch TV.
Here are my grades for each show along with a few highlights. Let me know your thoughts (and grades) in the Comments section.
Beyond the Gates
Dani's (Karla Mosley) flirtatious photoshoot with Andre (Sean Freeman) proved they are the hottest couple in daytime at the moment. Speaking of couples, I could watch Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) all day. Tunie and Davis have a special chemistry that makes every scene sparkle. Vernon cheering on The DuPres women singing karaoke with Anita out front was a joy to watch (check out their performance below). More music, please. Ambyr Michelle and Colby Muhammed are terrific as rivals Eva and Kat. Grade: A-
Liam (Scott Clifton) found out he has a mass on his brain and there is no treatment for his condition. He is dying. Of course Dr. Finn (Tanner Novlan) shared Liam's prognosis with Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) beforehand--HIPAA be damned--and left it to her to break the news to her ex-husband. Elsewhere, Luna (Lisa Yamada) and Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) secretly bonded after show promised Deacon she would stay away from her double-murdering granddaughter. Brooke caught Ridge's eye when she wore the showstopper at the Forrester Creations fashion show, barely making it after Taylor accidently locked them in a room backstage. Grade: B
Days of Our Lives
EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) was shot and there were a number of people in Salem was wanted him dead. Claire (Martha Madison) realized she loves EJ. Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Steve (Stephen Nichols) continued their search for John which led them to Orpheus (George DelHoyo). Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) decided to adopt Sophia's (Rachel Boyd) baby. Grade: B
General Hospital
Ava (Maura West) enjoyed blackmailing Alexis Nancy Lee Grahn), threatening to reveal to Molly that Kristina was responsible for Ric's car accident. In Los Angeles, Brick (Stephen A. Smith) thwarted an attempt on Sonny's (Maurice Benard) life after the mob boss underwent heart surgery, Back in Port Charles, Drew (Cameron Mathison) continued to throw his weight around while Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Portia (Brooke Kerr) plotted to take him down using an escort and ketamine. Grade: B+
The Young and the Restless
Diane (Susan Walters) revealed the newly redecorated Abbott house. Compared to some previous set redesigns this one wasn't bad. Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Claire (Erin Haley) decided to move in together. Audra (Zuleyka Silver) accepted a job working for Victor (Eric Braeden) . Meanwhile, Victor planted spies at Jabot in his never ending war again Jack (Peter Bergman). Grade: C+
