Daytime Soap Opera Grades June 2025

Talk about drama! And tears.  June featured the Michael-Willow custody battle on General Hospital and the memorial service for John Black on Days of our Lives.

Here are my grades for each show along with a few highlights.  Let me know your thoughts (and grades) in the Comments section.

Beyond the Gates
While it doesn't get hotter than Dani (Karla Mosley) and Andre (Sean Freeman), it was nice to see Dani bond with Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) after his stroke which helps us understand why she was so devastated by his betrayal.  The mystery of what happened to Martin (Brandon Claybon) two years ago heated up and the men involved rallied to keep their secret. Grade: A-

The Bold and the Beautiful
Luna (Lisa Yamada) continued to obsess over Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) which led her to purchase a gun.  Will she use it?  Elsewhere, Nick Marone (Jack Wagner) returned to Los Angeles and offered Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) an alternative to the back-and-forth with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye).  Grade: B-

Days of Our Lives
Salem said goodbye to John Black (played for decades by the late Drake Hogestyn) in a moving memorial service.  All his kids and step-kids were there except for Sami.  Kudos to Deidre Hall for portraying Marlena's grief perfectly.  Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) renewed their wedding vows.  Grade: B+

General Hospital
The battle for custody of Michael (Rory Gibson) and Willow's (Katelyn MacMullen) children was contentious with slings and arrows on both sides.  Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) went into labor on the witness stand and gave birth to a baby girl, Daisy.  Natalia (Eva LaRue) lost it when she realized Sonny (Maurice Benard) wasn't going to leave the country with her..  Grade: A

The Young and the Restless
After months of talk about the mysterious Aristotle Dumas, finding out he was actually a recast Cane Ashby (now played by Billy Flynn) was quite disappointing.  I'll be happy to never see Cane's hedge maze again.  Grade: C+

  1. The "Aristotle Dumas is really Cane" was and is a terrible story!

I can't imagine why anyone would think that a character who already had three different identities (Phillip Chancellor 3rd, Ethan Atkinson and Cane) needed another.

C+ is generous - I think if there was a We Love Soaps 25 Worst Daytime Stories it would make the list!

Still enjoying BTG but some of the stories REALLY need to start chugging along soon....they've been simmering for a while.
