Gordon Thomson Comes Out as Gay, and Thinks New 'Dynasty' is Appalling

Golden Globe and Indie Series Award nominee Gordon Thomson is not happy with the 2017 CW reboot of Dynasty, the smash 1980s soap opera on which he starred as Adam Carrington. In an interview with The Daily Beast, the actor trashed the remake, calling it "utter s—t."

"I have had a look at the new Dynasty and I am appalled," Thomson says in the interview. "What the f—k is the CW doing? It’s utter s—t."

He also takes aim at original Dynasty creators Richard and Esther Shapiro, who are executive producers on The CW show.

"The acting is dreadful, truly dreadful. The writing is appalling. I don’t know what possessed the Shapiros to bother," he says, before claiming the reboot would not have the approval of original EP Aaron Spelling. "Why call it Dynasty? It’s nothing to do with Dynasty at all. It's insulting. If the afterlife exists — it doesn’t, but if it did — Aaron would be having major fits in his grave. And the audience the CW is aiming for is going to think it’s s–t because it is such s–t that a cretinous 6-year-old would not be interested. It's abominable."

Thomson also took the opportunity to officially come out as gay. “It’s not something I’ve ever announced,” the actor admits. “I’m assuming that people know, and now that I’m my age that’s fine. I don’t go out of my way because it’s my generation, I think. I’m probably as homophobic as any gay man alive because of my background.”

Thomson has most recently starred in Ladies of the Lake, Winterthorne and Dynasty.

Dynasty premieres at 9 p.m. ET October 11 on The CW. Watch the trailer below.

This Is Gonna Hurt! Secrets Are Revealed On The Latest Episode Of 'Winterthorne'

John-Paul Lavoisier plays Hugh Cambridge on Winterthorne.
It's family dinner time on the latest episode of Winterthorne but, of course, it's not exactly a big lovefest.

Colin (Josh Thrower) is reunited with his family after 10 years away and can't understand why his father and grandfather haven't aged a day. When icy Miranda (Martha Madison) arrives at the dinner table, she wants details about the woman in Colin's life, and tension starts mounting until Maxmillian (Gordon Thomson) and Victor (Michael Caruso) are fed up.

"How many more sacrifices do we have to make before you finish purging your anger?" Victor snarls at Miranda before walking off.

That leaves Maxmillian to tell his daughter what he thinks of her.

"I love you, Miranda, but I have never liked you less than I do at this moment," he says.

Left alone with her son, Miranda explains the machinations that led her to this point, how she was being drugged, and her romance with Hugh Cambridge (John-Paul Lavoisier).

Later, Dominic Delacort (Kevin Spirtas) notices Miranda's necklace is missing, and reveals that it contained the seeds her mother told her about, and the power they possess. Finally learning the truth, Miranda takes action to stop the "scumbag henchman" for good.

Kathleen Gati and Kevin Spirtas Guest Star in This Week's Episode of 'Winterthorne'

Kathleen Gati guest stars as Valentina Winterthorne.
In the newly-released second episode of Michael Caruso's Winterthorne, General Hospital's Kathleen Gati guest stars as Valentina Winterthorne, the power hungry sister of Joanna (Linda Gray), who reveals a big family secret to her niece, Miranda (Martha Madison). Gati owns the screen from the moment she appears.

"Our candy is like a drug?" Miranda asks as Valentina explains.

"Not just any drug," Valentina says, "an untraceable drug that no agency on earth can regulate. It's all-natural poison."

When Miranda tries to kick her out, Valentina reveals that Miranda has been given powerful seeds that will save the Winterthorne family. Miranda doesn't believe her, which sets off a dangerous chain of events.

Later, Days of our Lives alum Kevin Spirtas makes his first appearance as Dominic Delacort, who has been charged by the Winterthorne women to train their husbands and future husbands in the art of making candy. The women may have the power on this show but Spirtas' Dominic steals the wardrobe spotlight.

A compelling script, beautiful scenery, gorgeous clothes and soap stars galore make for fun viewing on any screen. But beware of deadly licorice!

'DeVanity' Creator Michael Caruso Developing New Soap Opera 'Winterthorne' Starring Martha Madison

Emmy nominee and Indie Series Award winner Michael Caruso announced plans on Monday for an all new online soap opera, Winterthorne, a family saga detailing the story of Miranda Winterthorne and her rise to power to control the family’s multi million dollar candy business.

Martha Madison (ex-Belle, Days of our Lives) has signed on to star as Miranda Winterthorne, a character that Caruso describes as "powerful, seductive, vulnerable, loving, and ruthless."

"The audience will see that everything in Miranda's life has come with a price," Caruso adds, "and that the terrible secrets the family tries to hide are the same secrets that hold their business together. Dark, sexy, glamorous, and a visual feast, Winterthorne will be a classic soap with light touches of gothic whimsy.

Madison has been a long time and well respected member of the daytime community.

"I was ecstatic when Michael and Barbi [Caruso] approached me about this show," she said in a statement. "These kinds of roles don't come around very often, so of course, I jumped at the chance. It was obvious to me from their success with DeVanity that they were serious about making a top notch series, and this team means business. I'm stoked to be working with them."
