"We pitched an idea for daytime that had a fresh perspective, and they liked it," says Roth, who shot the pilot to The Revolution six months ago. "I didn't know if it was going to be for syndication or network. No one talked about replacing anything. It's bittersweet for me. On the one hand, we're bringing a new genre to daytime. But on the other hand, I grew up watching my mom watching these soap operas. I want to be respectful of it."

ABC Doesn't Think They'll Get Any Interest in Soaps

If Oprah picked them up I'd totally make the effort to find out what channel her station is on. It is just sad. At least Passions got an extra year thanks to the move to DirectTV but that didn't work except for giving the fans some more episodes.
ReplyDeleteI will continue to watch GH on ABC. But all they accomplished is raising the ratings for CBS and their soaps, because I'm sure there is interest there!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure its just a matter of time now before they all go. I read watch out when other soap contacts are up fot renrewal. I'm done with all now. No sense getting invested in any others they are all going down the tubes shortly. It is a shame. But I'm done with ABC for sure. They don't have a thing I'm really excited about anymore. Hate Reality shows. Hate the View, Night shows are HO HUM these days. Big mistake ABC. YOU WILL SEE
ReplyDeleteI am the administrator of the Facebook page Save AMC & OLTL, along with the administrator of the Facebook page Rally for Amc and Oltl and thousands of others on Facebook have organized a boycott of ALL ABC programming except All My Children & One Life To Live, we are also boycotting ABC's sponsors. We have sent thousands of emails to Brian Frons ( President of ABC Daytime) only to find out he is not reading anything related to these cancellations. We have also been contacting sponsors. We pick a sponsor each day. Yesterdays targeted sponsor was Hoover (please see their Facebook page) We are contacting Hershey all week as Easter is next Sunday ( please see their Facebook page also). Today's targeted sponsor is L'Oreal (please see their Facebook page) Please look through Facebook and see the uprising. We are very organized and united!!!!
ReplyDeleteIm so disappointed in ABC and I know I will not waste my time to watch or DVR any other show on ABC that they put in the place of All My Children or One Life To Live. I have watched All My Children, One Life to Live and GH for over 30 years. I sure hope someone will pick them up. It would be a great lose! Im sure there are millions of fans that feel the same as I do.
ReplyDeleteA forever Fan!
I amazed how many woman or people hate Reality shows. There are so many already. ABC must be using the networks budget for themselves if they aren't able provide good shows. Without SEX and Violence. I am saying I have had enough of TV and will be closing my cable, direct TV once the soaps and soapnet is off the Air. Had enough!
ReplyDeleteIf you are fed-up with network television and "reality" TV, then I implore you to check out the Indie Soaps that are covered in the weekly poll. There is a plethora of fantastic stories that are crafted in traditional yet fresh ways. Check out the Indie Soap poll of the week to get a look at the wealth of talent out there!
ReplyDeleteI have watched both shows since their beginnings. I do not like any other ABC daytime shows and I will be finished watching ABC. There are too many reality shows and food shows already on TV. I am heart broken over this. I never thought ABC would let us down like this.
