General Hospital is welcoming another new face to Port Charles.
According to TV Insider, actor Troy Lennon Appel has been cast in the newly created role of Hudson, a business executive with mysterious connections who is expected to shake things up when he arrives in town later this summer.
Appel is set to make his General Hospital debut on July 30.
The actor recently shared his enthusiasm about joining the long-running ABC soap.
"Working on GH has been nothing short of an incredible, fast-paced experience," Appel told TV Insider. "Everyone is very professional; they're on top of every intricate part of this very established, well-oiled machine, and I'm just trying to keep up and not halt the process in any way."
A graduate of Muhlenberg College with a degree in Theater and Communications, Appel discovered acting in high school before pursuing it more seriously in college. In addition to his theater background, he was a two-time conference qualifier in discus for the school's varsity track and field team.
His recent acting credits include Finding Master Right and Menflix, and he also appeared in Hayley Orrantia's music video for "Find Yourself Somebody."
Although General Hospital marks Appel's first venture into daytime television, he says the transition has been a smooth one.
"So many of the cast and crew have gone out of their way to welcome me, and I am immensely grateful for how simple and easy this transition has been," he said. "They know what they're doing, and I hope to learn as much as I can and add to the show, to the best of my ability."
Appel's casting continues a wave of additions to the General Hospital cast. Recent announcements include Dean Geyer's upcoming debut as Tristan Roberts, Kelly Kruger's arrival as Serena Baldwin, and the recasting of Scout Cain with Kayden Brenna Tokarski stepping into the role next month.
With Hudson's mysterious ties and business background, viewers can expect plenty of speculation about how he fits into the ever-evolving landscape of Port Charles when he arrives on July 30.
