NEWS: "Anti-Game of Thrones" Death; Hursley Grandson Visits 'General Hospital'; Thaao Penghlis Back to 'GH'; Univision For Sale?

Finale Postmortem: Director Breaks Down the "Anti-Game of Thrones" Death
[WARNING: The following contains spoilers from the Season 4 finale of Game of Thrones. Read at your own risk!]

On Sunday's big finale, several characters bit the dust, but no one died with less dignity than Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance), who perished while on the toilet after being shot by his son Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) with a crossbow.

"Tywin's death is the anti-Game of Thrones death in that it's very simple," director Alex Graves tells TVGuide.com. "There's a guy sitting down and rather [than] it being how much blood or how much gore or how shocking it was, it's actually about how futile and humiliating it is that this pillar of strength and arrogance who has had an enormous purpose in the War of the Five Kings is killed on the toilet, a death he would not be happy with."

NEWS:Jordanian Soap Star Dies While Filming Scene; Bradford Anderson & Emily Wilson To Visit 'GH'; IFC Rebranding; Series High for 'GoT'

Jordanian soap star Mahmoud al-Sawalqa dies filming deaths scene for 'Blood Brothers'
Mahmoud al-Sawalqa died on the set of the soap opera Blood Brothers, in front of actor Mundhir Rihane, who was playing his son, Egyptian daily al-Masry al-Youm reported on Tuesday.

Rihane was in a state of shock after the death on Saturday, the report said, quoting a statement from his office.

In a telephone interview with Egypt's CBC television, Rihane recounted the tragic event.

"He said, 'Son, I think I'm really going to die'. I said, 'You're joking'. He said, 'I think I'm really going to die'. I said, 'no, no, no, you're joking'," Rihane told the broadcaster. "And at the moment that we were filming the scene, he was dying... the angel of death was there with me."

Bradford Anderson and Emily Wilson to visit 'General Hospital'
A show rep had no comment, but it's likely that the return of Anderson (Spinelli) and Wilson (Ellie) will be a relatively brief one.

'24' ratings: Jack Bauer boosts Fox's Monday
Fox's 24: Live Another Day premiere delivered 8 million viewers and a 2.5 rating among adults 18-49. The two-hour telecast is down 29 percent from the debut of the final season of 24 back in 2010. For a show that’s been off the air for four years while broadcast ratings have plummeted, that’s not a bad drop at all. The premiere was the third-highest rated show Monday night, following The Voice (3.0) and The Blacklist (2.7).

NEWS: Bradford Anderson, Jake Wood, Rebecca Budig, George R.R. Martin, Naya Rivera, Seth Gilliam, John Heard, Mark Jordon

'General Hospital' alum Bradford Anderson and wife welcome second daughter
Anderson (ex-Spinelli, GH) and his wife, Kiera, became the proud parents of their second child, daughter Finola Leo Anderson, on May 2. "A big week for sure," he tweeted. "Today we welcomed our 2nd daughter…. Juna [their 2-year-old] is thrilled." On May 3, he clarified that the baby was not named after his Port Charles cohort Finola Hughes (Anna), saying, "Thanks for the good wishes all! And Finola is a family name, not to mention the name of one of the coolest gals we know. So, perfect!"

EastEnders' Jake Wood on Lucy mystery: '15 endings will be filmed'
[SPOILER ALERT] Wood has said that the soap's bosses are planning to film 15 different endings to the Lucy Beale murder mystery. The show launched a long-running whodunnit storyline at Easter as Lucy was found dead on Walford Common. The plot will run until EastEnders' 30th anniversary in February 2015.

Wood's character Max Branning is among the many suspects in the story, but he told ITV's Good Morning Britain today (May 5) that he may only discover the outcome when the reveal episode airs.

Asked whether Max is the culprit, he replied: "I genuinely don't know. I think there's about four people in the world who know at the moment. I'm certainly not one of them."

NEWS: Nazanin Boniadi Joins SCANDAL; Kinky Sex on B&B; Mixed-Race Families on TV; EXTANT Adds Annie Wersching

Nazanin Boniadi joins SCANDAL for major Season Three arc
The actress, perhaps best known for playing FBI analyst Fara Sherazi on the third season of Showtime's HOMELAND, will recur in the final eight episodes of SCANDAL's third season. Details about her character are being kept under wraps. Boniadi previously played Leyla Mir on GENERAL HOSPITAL.

Don Diamont Gets Kinky on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
Diamont's Bill Spencer is about to get kinky with, of all people, psycho-villain Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer)!

"We're not cable but we certainly take it as far as we can — and I don't think there's ever been anything like it in daytime," Diamont says, noting that the sex-with-whips action drew lots of attention at the CBS studio. "Suddenly, our crew seemed to double. I was, like, 'Who are all these people?'"

Where Is My Family on TV?
According to a 2012 Census Bureau report, mixed-race Americans, while still a small minority, are one of the fastest-growing demographic groups in the country, driven by immigration and an uptick in intermarriage. Yet while there are some very public examples of seemingly stable mixed-race families — the de Blasios of New York or even Kim, Kanye and sweet baby Nori come to mind — they are remarkably absent from our screens. (Our biracial president does get his share of screen time, of course.)

How THE WALKING DEAD Breaks Every Rule We Know About TV Hits
To simply chalk up the success of THE WALKING DEAD to the viability of the horror genre is to misunderstand the show. It's never been some splatterpunk thrill ride like the “Saw” film franchise; there’s actually just as much an arthouse sensibility to TWD as there is to other AMC shows like MAD MEN and BREAKING BAD. And as Sunday night's episode indicated, the series doesn't adhere to conventional storytelling. Then there’s the tone of TWD, which is so bleak it practically thumbs its nose at mass appeal. Throw in the fact the show hasn’t minted any true breakout stars and attracts zero awards buzz, and these gaudy ratings are even more inexplicable.

NEWS: NECESSARY ROUGHNESS Canceled; NASHVILLE's Charles Esten Faces $1M Question; TV’s Problematic Portrayal of Aging

NASHVILLE star faces $1 million question
Charles Esten (Deacon) will appear as a contestant on WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE with new host Cedric The Entertainer on Wednesday and Thursday. He's playing to see how much he can win for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. And the syndicated show reveals he's going to be the first celebrity player ever to make it all the way to the $1 million question on the daytime version of the game show.

NECESSARY ROUGHNESS Canceled by USA
“We are proud of this show and its writers, which had a unique ability to address topical subjects before they unfolded in real life on the sports pages,” the network said in a statement. “We want to thank Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro, the incredible cast led by Golden Globe nominee Callie Thorne and our partners at Sony Television.”

TV’s Problematic Portrayal of Aging
On television these days, if a character is yacking about flatulence, making randy remarks to a member of the opposite sex or being baffled by simple things, that character is likely to have some gray hair. Somehow, it seems, the TV gods have decided that characters old enough to have adult children need to be vulgar, inappropriate or moronic. Or all three.

NEWS: Soap Springs Eternal; Moonves on Broadcast Dramas at the Emmys; Jurnee Smollett Joins PARENTHOOD; Web Series Creators; Casey Moss; 24

Soap Springs Eternal: ALL MY CHILDREN, ONE LIFE TO LIVE and the sweetly human act of caring about fictional characters
"TV has gotten more sophisticated since daytime was popular, and we have gotten more sophisticated in our viewing habits, but deep concern for fictitious human beings is still a major part of the TV-watching experience. This is another thing that soap operas bequeathed us: intimate, long-term relationships with make-believe people. We may mock the soap-opera watcher for her bad taste, but we and our good taste spend an awful lot of time dissecting the psychology of Omar Little, imagining Carrie Mathison’s future, obsessing about Don Draper’s past. Soap operas remind me that I’m lucky TV has gotten better—not because I wouldn’t have watched and cared if it were bad, but because I would have watched and cared anyway. Lesser stories are still stories. In the heart of most snobs is also someone who just wants to know what happens next. I wish AMC and OLTL luck on their space flight."

CBS chief: Hard for THE GOOD WIFE to beat GAME OF THRONES at Emmys
“I don’t think we’re the bastard child of the entertainment business,” the CBS chief said, though later he seemed to sympathize with the overall point Greenblatt was making: “They’re competing against some phenomenal programs,” he said. “It’s hard to put THE GOOD WIFE up against GAME OF THRONES. It probably costs three times as much [to make and is given] three times as long to shoot. It’s a brilliant show and I love it as much as anyone. [But cable shows] get a lot more attention for a lot fewer numbers.”

Emmy Nominee Carrie Preston Poised to Return in Season 5 of THE GOOD WIFE
Fresh off her long-overdue Emmy nomination for playing Elsbeth Tascioni, Preston is nearing a deal to return to the CBS drama in Season 5. To date, she has appeared in nine episodes.

James LeGros joins REVENGE

Father Paul will be introduced to viewers after Emily (Emily VanCamp) seeks him out; he also has ties to the Grayson family...never a good thing in the Hamptons!
